The menu "Assets" allows you to enter the two categories of ASSETS in Budgeto:

  • Capital assets
  • Investments
       

CAPITAL ASSETS: The menu "Capital assets" allows you to plan your investments in tangible assets (buildings, equipment, furniture, etc.) or intangible assets (patents, trademarks, software, etc.) by identifying the amount and expected month of each investment. Capital asset is defined as any asset that has a useful life longer than one year and is not intended for sale during the normal course of business. 

Tangible assets

  • Lands (vacant land, timberland, storage yard, etc.)
  • Buildings (factory, warehouse, commercial condo, etc.)
  • Building improvements (improvement of a building that belongs to you)
  • Office equipment (desks, chairs, coffee machine, etc.)
  • Computer equipment (computers, printers, monitors, etc.)
  • Machinery and equipment (factory equipment, tools, etc.)
  • Other equipment (other equipment)

Intangible assets

  • Patents and trademarks (patentability search, application filing, etc.)
  • Goodwill (excess of purchase consideration)
  • Incorporation fees (legal fees, notary fees, government fees, etc.)
  • Financing fees (analysis fees to obtain a loan)
  • Software and websites (software license, websites, mobile apps, etc.)
  • Proprietary software (development costs for software)

   

INVESTMENTS: The menu "Investments" allows you to create investments, to identify the total amount, interest rate and expected month of each investment. An investment is the purchase of an asset or item with the hope that it will generate income or appreciate in the future and be sold at the higher priceInvestment examples:

  • Gold
  • Financial assets (stocks, bonds, etc.)
  • Art Works

How to complete the CAPITAL ASSETS section:

During your first visit, your CAPITAL ASSETS section will be empty (even if you have imported some accounting/historical data). Start by pressing on ADD: This is where you add a new capital asset.   


PRO-TIP: Don't stop at just one capital asset, you can enter as many as you want into Budgeto! Multiple capital assets entered will help make your financial reports more detailed.

 
1- ADD: This is where you add a new capital asset.

2- CATEGORY: This is the list of categories of expenses available for new investments. You can choose and manage the different types of depreciation methods available (straight-line or declining) using the Capital assets categories (3) option. 

3- INVESTMENT: This is the description for each investment. This field is optional.

4- AMOUNT: This is the total amount of each investment.

5- FREQUENCY: This is the frequency of occurrence of each investment.
6- STARTING IN: This is the first month when the total amount of the investment is paid.

7- ENDING IN: This is the last month when the total amount of the investment is paid.

8- PAYMENT TERM: This is the number of days before your customers have to pay for your product.

9- TAXABLE: Check this box if you can get a refund for the sales tax paid when buying capital assets.

10- INFLATION: This is your capital asset annual inflation increase (%) as well as the month the inflation begins.

11- CAPITAL ASSETS CATEGORIES: Access the Capital assets categories option.

12- HYPOTHESIS:  This space is intended to write useful information about the product.  This information will be available to all of whom you share your budget with.  Note that when you export your budget, this information will not be available in the PDF and the Excel.

13- PLANNING: You can manage the investment schedule manually.


IMPORTANT Don't forget to press on SAVE once you are done.  


PRO-TIP Click on the arrow to the right of the word "SAVE" and select "Save & copy". This will allow you to save your current entry, and then bring you to a new entry page, where all the previous information is already entered

This will allow you to make small modifications to the NEW current entry, without having to refill every box again.

5- MONTH: This is the month when the total amount of the investment is paid.

6- HYPOTHESIS: This space is intended to write useful information about the product. This information will be available to all of whom you share your budget with. Note that when you export your budget, this information will not be available in the PDF and the Excel. 

7- SAVE: To save the entry.
